The Marine, incorporating Marine House, and 'Raft Rocks', the independent restaurant situated on our ground floor, is located on the seafront of the quintessential English village of Milford On Sea, between the historic towns of Christchurch and Lymington.
‘The Marine’ is a contemporary sea side restaurant with rooms. It was born of a vision inspired by the unique location and former elegance of the original 1930's ‘Art Deco' style building which occupied the site.
The building was conceived and designed by its current owners, and built in 2010, in a style which sympathetically reflects the architecture of the original building.
The unique, accessible, seafront promenade, to the west of The Marine, provides the opportunity for an enjoyable walk along the non commercialised, unspoilt coastline of Christchurch Bay. The Shingle Bank to the east of the building provides a slightly more challenging walk to Hurst Castle, from where a relaxing ferry trip through the salt marches to the neighbouring Hamlet of Keyhaven, provides a more relaxing leg of the return journey, during the spring and summer seasons.
The spectacular seafront and Sturt Pond Nature Reserve provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy bird watching, fishing, crabbing and for the more energetic Guests, possibly kite surfing and sailing.
The accommodation at Marine House is situated on the first floor of The Marine, an Art-Deco style Restaurant with Rooms, on the sea front in Milford On Sea.
With only four luxury Bedrooms and two luxury Suites, we are able to provide an intimate but, unobtrusive, level of service to our valued Guests.
Marine House Guests can enjoy the benefit of our in-house, independent, Brasserie style Restaurant & Bar, 'Raft Rocks' on the ground floor, with the added benefit of direct access to our stunning Roof Terrace.
Guests can enjoy spectacular sea views of Christchurch Bay, Sturt Pond Nature Reserve, and the landmark 'Needles' on the Isle of Wight, from the panoramic Roof Terrace. The relaxed and welcoming in-house 'Raft Rocks' Restaurant serves a hearty full English breakfast, or Vegetarian alternative, every morning.
Please advise us of any special dietary requirements when making your reservation, and we will pass on your information to the Restaurant, who will endeavour to accommodate your needs.
Marine House is open all year round, other than for two or three weeks in January. But being a seasonal location, we are unable to guarantee that the on-site restaurant, 'Raft Rocks' will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays during the winter months. However, Milford on Sea, and the surrounding area, is blessed with a variety of high quality restaurants and Public Houses, which we can strongly recommend, for delicious food and beverages.
